English as an additional language

Celebrating many different languages at our school,

We are very fortunate at Knightwood Primary School to have a wealth of different languages spoken in our school. We believe that the bi/multilingualism of our children and staff enriches our school and community.

We feel that it is important that our children with English as an additional language have the opportunity to share and use their home language at school. We hope that having an understanding of other languages and cultures will provoke interest and respect.

At the moment, we have speakers of these languages:

  • Arabic
  • Romanian
  • Bengali
  • Sinhala
  • Panjabi
  • Malayalam
  • Swahili
  • Polish
  • Italian
  • Greek
  • Urdu
  • Tamil
  • Farsi
  • Cantonese
  • Portuguese
  • Hindi
